RELATED EXPERIENCE

User Engagement Librarian — D. Hiden Ramsey Library at UNC Asheville, Asheville, NC (January 2015 – present)
Develops and administers a multitude of instruction and academic engagement programs aimed at student success and retention at the University of North Carolina System’s designated public liberal arts university. Fosters creativity and collaboration with students across the academic spectrum, both enrolled on our campus and in the community, through personalized instruction and reference services. Develops instruction sessions for a wide variety of majors and classifications. Developed and supervises the Creativity, Art Fabrication, and Technology (CrAFT) Studio. Successfully served as primary investigator on a $47,520 NCLA LSTA grant. Supervises the student employees at the Reference Services Desk and the CrAFT Studio. Develops and promotes a wide variety of exhibits in the library space based on local topics of interest, campus events, and seasonal topics. Serves as the subject liaison for History, Political Science, and Music and library resources instructor for numerous subjects. Serves as an web administrator and content creator for the Ramsey Library webpage, utilizing standards-compliant coding, as well as the in-house web applications administrator and creator. Administers Ramsey Library’s robust multiple platform social media presence, currently inclusive of Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr, and Pinterest.

User Experience (UX) Graduate Intern — State Library of North Carolina, Raleigh, NC (Fall 2014)
Selected for a highly-competitive graduate-level internship working with Dr. Anthony Chow and the staff of the State Library of North Carolina.  Performed an in-depth usability analysis on the State Library of North Carolina’s web presence, inclusive of services such as NC MOSAIC, in order to ensure a dynamic, fully ADA-compliant, user-centered product is available to its patrons across the state. Developed and deployed a comprehensive user survey and heuristics test based on scholarship. Analyzed the data and presented a cohesive analysis of the product, including a wireframe mock-up of a new landing page.

Digital Projects Practicum — D. Hiden Ramsey Library at UNC Asheville, Asheville, NC (Fall 2014)
Developed and produced a robust, dynamic, and ADA-compliant slate of digital tutorials and modules for Ramsey Library. Transferred the library’s website and LibGuides into the new LibGuides 2.0 platform, establishing a consistent style/presentation that is cohesive with the university’s brand and style. Utilized standards-compliant code and design for the project.

Reference Instruction Assistant — D. Hiden Ramsey Library at UNC Asheville, Asheville, NC (December 2013 – December 2014)
Developed and delivered dynamic library information literacy instruction sessions for a multitude of disciplines and class levels, consistent with ALA /ACRL benchmarks and UNC Asheville student learning outcomes. Delivered both one-shot and multi-visit instruction sessions, tailored for each instructor’s needs and course requirements.

User Engagement & Public Services Intern — D. Hiden Ramsey Library at UNC Asheville, Asheville, NC (June 2013 – December 2014)
Graduate-level internship in outreach and user services, including but not limited to supervision of the undergraduate research interns, program development, advanced research consultation, social media management, marketing/branding, media design, data analysis, collection management, and web development. Created the emBARK Orientation Scavenger Hunt and the Explore the Tour Library Flash Fiction programs. Delivered high quality reference instruction sessions to a variety of majors and class levels. Served on the library’s Vision Working Group and presented data gathered from the surveys in a clear, concise manner.

Research Services Intern — D. Hiden Ramsey Library at UNC Asheville, Asheville, NC (January 2013 – May 2013)
Competitive undergraduate-level internship with Public Services at Ramsey Library. Served as front-line contact for library patrons at the Research & Technology Desk. Created, added, edited, and updated records and digital resources in a highly networked environment. Assisted librarians and staff in the acquisition, control, and organization of information resources.

Archivist Intern — Western Regional Office of the State Archives, Asheville, NC (January 2013 – May 2013)
90-hour undergraduate internship for class credit (HIST 395). Accessioned, catalogued, organized, and processed the Asheville Bravo! Concert Series collection. Developed a month-long exhibit on the concert series hosted at the Western Regional Archives.

Student Administrative Assistant to the University Librarian — D. Hiden Ramsey Library at UNC Asheville, Asheville, NC (September 2013 – May 2013)
Hired under a student incentive grant to fill in for the Business Services Coordinator during a transition in administrative staff and retained after the grant expired. Managed all aspects of the University Librarian’s administrative office, including but not limited to scheduling, filing, and serving at the frontline contact for the administrative offices of the university library.

Rolled out the newest iteration of the emBARK Scavenger Hunt, including a self-grading module, for the incoming Fall 2015 freshman class at UNC Asheville, incorporating data collected from the 2014-2015 academic year’s LANG 120 and LA 178 classes, student interactions, and reflecting the new threshold concepts from ACRL.

Presented on alternative summer reading activities (including the Flash Fiction Project) for middle and high school aged students at the State Library of North Carolina Summer Reading Program meeting in Waynesville, North Carolina to an audience of public librarians and library staff.
